Plantas contendo isoflavonas no tratamento da síndrome da menopausa e nos distúrbios do climatério
Resumen
Nos últimos anos tem ocorrido um grande aumento no consumo de produtos derivados de plantas contendo isoflavonas, devido à disseminação de informações a respeito de sua atividade estrogênica e seus efeitos colaterais mínimos. As isoflavonas fazem parte do grande grupo dos “fitoestrógenos” e possuem atividade estrogênica similar. Certas espécies vegetais constituem fonte de matéria-prima para produtos de isoflavonas. Dentre elas, a soja, Glyxine max (L.) Merr., é a mais utilizada e conhecida. Também é possível encontrar esses fitofármacos em cimicífuga, Cimicífuga racemosa (L.) Nutt., em angélica, Angelica sinensis (Oliv.) Diel., no alcaçuz, Glycyrrhiza glabra L. e no trevo vermelho, Trifolium pratense L. Sabemos que as informações sobre a reposição hormonal utilizando compostos vegetais que contenham isoflavonas ainda não estão totalmente elucidadas, mas observa-se que um tratamento prolongado utilizando esses produtos surtirá resultados mais satisfatórios do que quando utilizados somente no período do climatério.
