Resistência bacteriana relacionada ao uso de agrotóxicos no município de Santa Maria de Jetibá – ES
Abstract
The use of agricultural inputs has been a common practice since the middle ages, and aims to combat fungi and insects. During the Second World War, Brazil began the development of agriculture and livestock, implementing transgenic seeds and the use of pesticides. The country gained worldwide prominence in 2008, for becoming the country with the highest consumption of pesticides and having a wide and excessive legality of such products. The aim of the study was to investigate whether there is a prevalence of antibiotic-resistant strains of the Staphylococcus aureus genus in rural producers using agricultural inputs, and whether there is a difference between antibiotics within and beyond the expiration date. The thirteen volunteers were divided into two groups, inorganic (7) and organic (6). Regarding the first group, 43% say they do not use PPE, while 57% make partial use of equipment, such as boots or gloves. In their totality, they said they use the costal pump in the application of agricultural inputs, and, according to the volunteers, the most used pesticides are: Roundup® and Glyphosate®. The second group said in its entirety, that the conduct adopted after harvest is washing food, and there is the consumption of everything that is planted. When evaluating the growth of the colonies, it was observed that some had a different aspect than expected, with characteristics that were not similar to Staphylococcus colonies. With these colonies, slides were made for Gram staining and all resulted in gram-positive bacilli. Although the damage caused by the use of pesticides in crops is known to farmers, everyone who cultivates inorganically does not make the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and there were differences between the effectiveness of some antibiotics, which should gain more representation by increasing the sample number.
