Pulp revascularization of necrotic teeth with incomplete rhizogenesis
a literature review
Abstract
Smoking negatively influences both peo-ple’s expectation and quality of life, being known as one of the most important risk factors for periodontal disease. Its performance is directly linked to the reduction of the immune response, alteration of the oral microbiota and tissue vasoconstriction. The objective of this study is to report, through a literature review, the harms of tobacco, it’s consequences and the prevention of periodontal disease. With this, to emphasize the importance of the dentist in the face of guidance, seeking prevention, and active action when treatment is necessary. Based on studies, it is possible to observe that, in most times, the efficacy of periodontal therapy in smokers is decreased in relation to nonsmokers, making the process of guidance to the patient on the risks and impairments in periodontal tissue even more important over time.
