Abstract

The Dombrock System (SD) was first described in 1965 and recognized in 1985, since then several phenotypes have been discovered, among which is the rare Hy- phenotype, which has a high prevalence in individuals of black descent. The study aimed to investigate the prevalence of Dombrock genotypes in the Centro Serrana population of Espírito Santo State. Sixty-six samples were analyzed and their DNA extracted, the obtained material was submitted to polymerase chain reaction (PCR), the amplified products were subjected to digestion by restriction enzymes Eam1105l and ALW 261, verified by electrophoresis and 3% agarose gel. . Of the 67 samples, 27 (40.29%) presented some SD allele, among which a donor with the rare Hy- phenotype was identified. Knowledge of the prevalence of Dombrock alleles opens the door to the possibility of further research in a larger number of samples from HEMOES (State of Espírito Santo Hemocenter).
