Comparative herbivory in Polygala spectabilis and Piper lhotzkyanum, in the Atlantic Forest at he Biological Reserve of Duas Bocas, Cariacica, Espírito Santo
Abstract
In this present study it tried to determine herbivory degree in two distinct species inside the Biological Reserve of Duas Bocas. The sampling was accomplished with 30 home species individuals Polygala spectabilis DC. and Piper lhotzkyanum Kunth. According to the obtained results it considered that there was highly significant difference among both species for the total number of leaves and the total number of herbivor damaged leaves, however there was a negative correlation among leaves herbivors and number it of leaves, showing that the number of nutritious does not mean a larger consumption, fact this one that can carry the several hypothetical solutions as characteristics of chemical, physical defenses and/or biological of the studied species.
