Abstract

Considering the hypothesis that the selective pressure of gamete production cost tends to restrict the access of pollen to floral visitors, the aim of this study was to identify the location of reproductive structures, the type of resource and access to it, the flower visitors Centrosema vexillatum and its pollinators. The study was performed close to Retiro Novo farm, in the Pantanal of Poconé. The description of floral morphology of C.vexillatum was made by field observations, analysis using a stereoscopic microscope and photographic record of floral structures and the activity of flower visitors and pollinators made by direct observations, and photographic identification specialist. The flowers of C. vexillatum are hermaphrodites, the corolla lilac, papilionada and five petals, and two wings or wings, or a banner petal vexilo in the central and two fused petals forming the keel. Eulaema nigrita was the visitor who promoted floral pollination. Other floral visitors in pollination does not take his visits, including the hummingbird Amazilia fimbriata, the wasp Polistes sp and butterflies, not because their bodies made contact with the reproductive structures of the flower.
