Abstract

The interaction of biological control agents is considered to be an excellent alternative to control insects that can cause economic damages. However, the effects of the joint association of natural enemies can promote undesirable responses and can favor the establishment of pest insects in the environment. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of some isolates of Bacillus thuringiensis on biological characteristics of the parasitoid Trichogramma pretiosum in eggs of its natural host, Helicoverpa zea (Lepidoptera). The studies were held in a laboratory on thermal conditions of 25± 1º C, RH 65 ± 5% and photophase of 14 hours. To analyze the effects of isolated B. thuringiensis, newly emerged females of T. pretiosum were individualized in Duran tubes, containing alimentary substrate with drops of honey mixed with the suspension of the isolates of Bt B. thuringiensis (1:1), according to LC50 of each isolates of H. zea. There wasn’t any influence of isolates in the biological characteristics analyzed. The results verified that the parasitism levels were above 50%, thus proving that the association of these agents can be an excellent way to manage the H.zea in different agroecosystems.
