Effect of inoculation of Bradyrhizobium japonicum (Bradyrhizobiaceae) in the development of Senna multijuga and Phaseolus vulgaris (Fabaceae)
Abstract
Symbiotic association between rhizobia and plants allows the fixation of atmospheric nitrogen to assimilable compounds that favor the development and production of the plant. Bradyrhizobium japonicum is a rhizobia which presents association with several legumes, being recommended for soybean cultivation. Phaseolus vulgaris and Senna multijuga (Fabaceae) are commercially important species, moreover, the latter is used in recovery of degraded areas. This study aims to determine the influence of inoculation of B. japonicum on the initial development of S. multijuga and on the total development of P. vulgaris. The parameters considered were: height, stem diameter at ground height, number of leaves and dry weight. The data analyses consisted of Shapiro-Wilk test for normality, t-Student’s test when normal and, when not-normal, Mann-Whitney test. Based on the results, it is inferred that there is a lack on S. multijuga positive interactions with the rhizobia, whilst P. vulgaris exhibits positive correlation in some parameters. These results are discussed and compared with other papers and trends of interaction are proposed between B. japonicum and phylogenetic groups of legumes.
