Abstract

In this study we determined the species composition of Curculionidae in an orchard in Ponta Grossa, PR, and presented an analysis of the community structure. The insects were collected with beating sheet, and the data were analyzed in ANAFAU and PAST softwares. As results,116 weevils were trapped for about two years of sampling, distributed in eight subfamilies: Entiminae (44.8%), Baridinae (35.3%), Molytinae (7.8%), Conoderinae (2.6%), Cryptorhynchinae (1.7%), Curculioninae (6%), Erirhininae (0.9%) and Hyperinae (0.9%). Baridinae was the subfamily with the highest richness, with 25 species. The species Naupactus cervinus, Naupactus auricinctus and Madopterini sp. 2 were identified as ecological indicators in this orchard. In relative abundance of fruit tree there was emphasis on citrus. The indices of Shannon-Wiener and Margalef demonstrated a marked difference in species richness of weevils between sampled plants. The index of evenness revealed that, in ge neral, individuals are distributed equally among the different species of Curculionidae and that this behavior is relatively similar in the different fruit trees.
